Traffic Light Cameras
Traffic light cameras have become a popular way to issue “auto-pilot” speeding tickets. Basically as a traffic light is turning red a series of photographs are taken. Some of these are used to identify any motorists that failed to stop at the light, while others are used to measure the speed of the vehicle as it passes through an intersection. There have been many claims that this technology is simply not accurate enough to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, however the recent case of a UK driver who was issued an 800 mph speeding ticket raises serious doubts about the whole system. That’s right: the camera claimed that the man was exceeding the speed of sound.
