Occassionally the courts will offer a way to avoid getting the speeding violation on ones driving record by attending a driving class. Though this can be a worthwhile experience to refresh ones memory of the traffic rules, it might not be monetarily advantageous. In addition to paying up for the driving citation, one also ends up shelling out money for the class.
Ok, I have a big problem with the “unspoken” law that states when you
encounter a cop you have to basically kiss his ass and pretend as though
you are somehow appreciative or even thankful of the encounter.
“Thank you so much officer for showing me the error of my ways,
you had best deal out some kind of absurd punishment just to make
sure I learn my lesson this time…”
I’m sorry but the truth of the matter is that the kind of people who
become cops are insecure, “I wasn’t good enough for daddy” types.
Occassionally you may find an honest “I want to make protect and
serve” type, but usually these types don’t stay cops for very long
because it falls so short of their expectations.
It has been my good fortune to stumble upon Red Light Cameras.
This is an awesome resource with tons of good legal info and up to date info of bills in legislation that are related to the highly flawed red light camera system in place in many cities.
Traffic light cameras have become a popular way to issue “auto-pilot” speeding tickets. Basically as a traffic light is turning red a series of photographs are taken. Some of these are used to identify any motorists that failed to stop at the light, while others are used to measure the speed of the vehicle as it passes through an intersection. There have been many claims that this technology is simply not accurate enough to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, however the recent case of a UK driver who was issued an 800 mph speeding ticket raises serious doubts about the whole system. That’s right: the camera claimed that the man was exceeding the speed of sound.
A clean record, and a long driving experience helps one achieve a reasonable insurance premium, and a promise of it lowering further over a period of time. Similarly, the driving record can act as a prejudicial factor when one faces charges of other offenses in a future period of time. The violation can sometimes escape the notice of DMVs in other states, as not all states share their DMV records. But, it would definitely be recorded in the police records. So, whenever there is a search performed on the cops’ system, the traffic violation is bound to show up.
In some states, after three moving violations a driver’s license can even be revoked. This is very inconvenient particularly for people who drive to work everyday. Further, even if the license is not revoked, increased anxiety about not getting involved in another violation can cause one to make more mistakes.
